Job description

This is a position for an IT Technician Apprenticeship.


Provide IT support to customers of and ensuring systems are maintained and supported to the highest standards. Work will be undertaken in accordance with service level agreements and as required by the directors. Ensure that all support calls and requests are dealt with appropriately and in accordance with policies and procedures. Provide onsite service to install, setup and configure IT equipment for use as personal computers, tills, printers, and scanners etc.

 

The applicant would be required to be in regular contact with suppliers and customers, both commercial and domestic. Daily contact will be required to respond to user support calls in line with service level agreements, where you will be required to provide technical support in identifying software and hardware problems. This will involve communicating technical issues to a non-technical person and resolving the problem through to a satisfactory resolution for the user. This will also include escalating unsolved problems to a senior technician.

 

Handle confidential information in accordance with current policies and procedures.

The applicant will be required to manage the planning and organisation of their own workload appropriately.

 

The applicant will be responsible for the cleanliness and security of IT premises (e.g. desk area, workshop, and comms room) and the Safe Keeping of IT equipment placed under applicants’ care.

The applicant is required to work in a technical environment without constant supervision.

This position is for 4 days including weekends.

The salary will be £3.50 - £7.50 per hour depending on level of experience.

  • Responding to emails, maintaining Facebook page
  • Handling payment

  • An interest in computers
  • Good general level of education with a minimum of GCSE Maths and English A* - C
  • Good working knowledge of the fundamentals of Windows operating systems, basic PC and peripherals hardware, Microsoft Office and internet applications
  • Previous experience working in a computer support environment
  • Any formal qualifications of training
  • Experience with PC hardware, operating systems and applications software
