Trainee Youth Worker

Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for the right person to join the team at DEAP Ltd as a Trainee Youth Worker in our Next Steps Project based in Dundee. The ideal candidate will deliver a wide range of activities to Looked After and Vulnerable Young people. The role involves providing training and support, and engaging the young people in the decision making process. The post holder will carry out assessment of the young people and agree with them their progression plans. A key role will be identifying, signposting and working with appropriate specialist agencies to meet the needs of the young people. The post holder will be required to be flexible and an effective team member and have the ability to sustain and develop a varied and challenging workload. Previous experience of supporting vulnerable young people would be an advantage but is not essential.

 

The ideal candidate will have:

  1. Excellent people skills and the ability to work with a wide range of Young People
  2. Ability to advocate on behalf of Young People
  3. A good level of basic literacy and numeracy
  4. A willingness to learn on the job
  5. Knowledgeable regarding the needs of  marginalised Young People

Minimum 16 hours per week (Salary £6,240 p.a.) BL funded for up to November 2017
