Job description

An opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our pharmacy team, as a higher level pharmacy technician.  

The post holder will have a key role in supporting the provision of a busy dispensing service for both in-patients and out-patients attending Royal Cornhill Hospital. As well as being actively involved in all aspects of the dispensing process, including the final accuracy checking of prescriptions, the post holder will be required to deputise for the Band 6 Lead Pharmacy Technician in his/her absence, assuming responsibility for the day to day organisation of the dispensary workload, technical support to wards and also for co-ordinating the dispensing and supply of clozapine to both in-patients and out-patients in Grampian.  

The post holder will also be working at ward level, involved in supporting the provision of effective medicines management including medicines reconciliation, checking patients’ own medicines and organising medicines supply for both inpatients and patients being discharged home. In addition the post holder will be involved in medicines related audit and also in delivering training packages to nursing staff relating to the safe and secure handling of medicines. This post also includes a commitment to rotational weekend working in the dispensary at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.  

Applications are invited from registered pharmacy technicians holding an Accredited Checking Technician qualification who have an interest in working within mental health.
