Post: ICT Technician

Employer: SWC Trade Frames Limited

Responsible To: Corporate Systems Manager

Contract Type: Permanent

Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday

Please note that flexibility will be needed to meet the varying

needs of the business.

SWC Trade Frames has been family run since 1989 & is a Quality Assured Company that manufactures high quality PVCu and Aluminium products including casement & sash windows, residential & bi-folding doors, conservatories & orangeries. A previous holder of the prestigious national industry "Fabricator of the Year" Award, SWC is also known for it's proven track record of being a modern, progressive, customer focussed business. 


Job Purpose

The purpose of this post is to provide ICT support for the business including programming and implementing ICT based projects. Full training and mentorship is provided.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Quality Management System (QMS)

  • Comply with Standard Operation Procedures (SOP’s)

  • Contribute to Quality System reviews and give feedback for improvements to the SOP’s and the Quality Management System (QMS) to your line manager.

  • Update QMS manuals with new business processes.

ICT Systems & Security

  • Implement software installation upgrades throughout the business.

  • Implement hardware installations and set-up for new and existing members of staff.

  • Troubleshoot for hardware/software problems in the user systems, server systems and network systems

  • Set-up new users, access levels & passwords throughout all protected software

  • Assist in the quote & order process for new software & hardware

  • Assist in the development of SQL scripts and reports including the design process where appropriate.

Project Work

  • Assist with undertaking ICT based project work. This will include data entry and data checking.

  • Assist with data entry/programming, as well as maintaining, upgrading and evolving any bespoke software data used.

  • Assist in the creation of ICT project specific paperwork including price lists, flyers and newsletters.

  • Create & suggest new system & reporting ideas for consideration as new projects

  • Where appropriate lead the creation of new systems ensuring timescales are adhered to

Training, Documentation and Quality Assurance

  • Create and store quality & procedural documentation developed by each business area.

General Duties

  • Adhere to SWC good practice guidelines, personal and Health & Safety policies, and procedures.

  • Participate in individual training opportunities relevant to the post and team objectives.

  • Operate within a strict code of confidentiality where required at all times.

  • Support cover arrangements as requested by your line manager including occasional out of hours support, install & upgrades

  • Assist customers with Panacea issues & systems maintenance issues

  • Stock monitoring (hardware & licences)

  • Provide training to colleagues on corporate systems

  • Maintain current systems and services eg website content, database integrity and reports for managers
