Job description

Salary Band:  £19,641 pro rata per annum

 

Job details

20 hours per week (working 4 hours daily Monday to Friday - 10:00am-14:00pm preferred)

Fixed term contract for 6 months (with a view to becoming a permanent position)

 

Emma Hardy MP is looking for a Constituency Assistant to join her dedicated enthusiastic team in Hull. 

 

Job purpose

To provide full administrative support including, drafting documents, taking enquiries from constituents and stakeholders, replying to routine correspondence and providing support for meetings and surgeries when required.

 

Key responsibilities

·         Supporting the MP’s Parliamentary work, including communications via email, letter and phone

·         Routinely monitoring press output and drafting press releases and blogs

·         Establishing a social media presence in the constituency and publicise surgeries etc

·         Gathering relevant information to assist with resolving cases

·         Attend surgeries and meetings as appropriate

·         Undertake research usually from readily available sources on straight forward subjects

·         Provide general administrative support as directed

 

Skills and Experience Required

·         Excellent people skills

·         Highly organised in order to prioritise and manage competing demands

·         Excellent written and oral skills

·         Competent use of IT and the ability to adapt quickly to new software

·         Good political judgment

·         A commitment to Labour values

·         Good working knowledge of social media channels including use of appropriate image and video and editing software

·         Respecting the need for confidentiality
