Looking for an exciting Pharmacy career opportunity in the NHS?
An enthusiastic and motivated person is needed to join our dedicated team to train as a Pharmacy Technician. We are a busy, fully automated pharmacy department providing a comprehensive, patient focussed service to residents and visitors to the Isle of Wight.
You should want to work as part of a large team and have a keen desire to learn. This will mean developing a responsible and professional attitude to performing skilled tasks in a safe, accurate and timely manner. Your training will cover a full range of duties at St Mary’s Hospital Pharmacy, including dispensing for out patients, in-patients, and take home medicines, pharmacy stores and procurement, ward top up, medicines management, medicines information, patient counselling and more.
You will study for 2 qualifications- the NVQ 3 in Pharmacy Services as well as the Level 3 Diploma in Pharmaceutical Sciences, which will be provided by Highbury College, Cosham. You will be expected to carry out some private study to complete this course. In addition, competence based work place assessments will be carried out in the Pharmacy Department supported by our qualified NVQ assessors. Once qualified, you will be able to register with the General Pharmaceutical Council as a Pharmacy Technician.
You should have excellent communication skills, be flexible and be able to work under pressure. The ability to prioritise work and use own initiative is also important. Possession of at least 5 GCSEs at Level C or above to include Mathematics, Science and English is required.
Salary: £16,354 Band 4 Annex 21

This post is a 2 year fixed term contract.

You will be required to pay the £4170 course fees either up front, in 2 annual instalments of £2085 or by Advanced Learner Loan arranged through Highbury College
